  ABOUT THE AUTHORS

  A graduate of Miami and Ohio State Universities, David Meyers has written a number of local histories and various works for the stage. Among the former are Columbus, the Musical Crossroads and Ohio Jazz: A History of Jazz in the Buckeye State while the latter include The Last Oz Story and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Condominium Association, Inc. He has also collaborated with his daughter, Elise, on Central Ohio’s Historic Prisons; Historic Columbus Crimes: Mama’s in the Furnace, The Thing & More; Look to Lazarus: The Big Store; Columbus State Community College: An Informal History; and Inside the Ohio Penitentiary.

  Elise Meyers Walker is a graduate of Hofstra University. While in college, she was a freelance writer for several national magazines and also performed in a professional theater troupe based on Long Island.

  Having attended the Recording Institute of Detroit, Jeff Chenault is a music producer, recording engineer, writer and musicologist. He is known throughout the country for his expertise in exotica music and has written articles for Tiki News, Cool and Strange Music Magazine and Tiki Magazine. Jeff is also a prominent member of the Fraternal Order of Moai, Kahiki Chapter.

  Doug Motz is the president of the Columbus Historical Society. Much in demand as a leader of local history tours, Doug also attended Ohio State University and writes a regular “History Lesson” column for columbusunderground.com.
